Seems I was drifting down a river that has no end.
I guess I was drowning, my head round the bend.
A stroke is the reason, for this journey, I am now on.
Everything black, a beam in the distance, light that is shone.
Then out of the blue, how lucky, to meet a food friend.
Pointing directions, the message clear that they send.
The person who formed this wonderful charity, “food friends”
Matching individuals in need of support, with volunteers.
The ice breaker used, these angels cook extra portions,
To one weekly meal, which then delivers, a takeaway with love.
There are still people who care, who are prepared to share.
The pleasure that they get, is a smile and a (Thank you)
From my perspective moods to date, have been blue.
Since meeting Dee and Rod, now things to look forward to.
They are stretching the boundaries each day and each year.
With the purpose of bringing this world, a little more cheer.
There is one thing I know, when taking a look back.
The support I now have, is not from Santa ’s sack.
I have two really good friends, who now look after me.
It does not stop there, for there’s much more for us to see.
An invite to a lunch party, over 100 new people to meet.
We were all fed a hot meal and drink, an incredible feat.
A chance to meet new people, all with stories to tell.
Now I’m not alone, fears I had they’ve managed to quell.
My story ends here, I’m no longer alone, here on my own.
The balls in my court, to spread good cheer, the seeds are sown.
A cheery goodnight, I wish you ‘Happy Christmas’ and ‘new year’.
As we all now await for the rotund little man in red to appear.
